Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Basic Training Instructor; Sign On*, Relocation and Retention Bonus Eliigible

Position Summary:

Works as a team member in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings to assist Community Health Aide students in developing primary care and emergency care knowledge and skills; follows statewide Community Health Aide Training Curriculum, Manual, and Standards; travels to village clinics as needed to assess student progress. Provides Continuing Medical Education (CME) instruction to Health Aides as requested by the Director. Assist the Health Aide Training Coordinator and CHAP Director with projects and in committee as requested. 

Position Qualifications:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner; Physician Assistant; Physician (MD or DO)
  • Two (2) years of recent positive family practice experience.
  • Related experience may be considered (e.g., Women’s health). Teacher training and experience desirable, but not required.
  • FNP/PA Certification; FNP, PA, MD, DO
  • Must have current licensure in State of Alaska
  • National Certification required
  • Must be fully credentialed at YKDRH and be a member of Medical Staff
  • Must have a current DEA number
  • Current BLS, recommend ACLS and PALS
  • Satisfactory reference and criminal checks.
  • Able to use computers for word processing, emailing, accessing stored files; ability to operate digital camera, projector, and other equipment as it becomes available, or ability and willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to teach students in a supportive and respectful manner.
  • Ability to function within a team training approach as both a member and a leader.
  • Management of students in both classroom and clinical environments; advisement of assigned Health Aide trainees.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta. Position Summary: The Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner (PA, NP) shall be committed to contributing to the mission of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC), “Working Together to Achieve Excellent Health”. This provider shall train all new medical staff providers in the use of RAVEN, our electronic record keeping system. This shall include initial training and follow up training. Diabetes Program Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Sign on Bonus, Relocation, and Retention Bonus Eligible

Position summary: This is a grant funded position. Diabetes Program Nurse Practitioner is primarily responsible for providing medical management, care and education for persons diagnosed with diabetes and related chronic conditions, as well as prevention and wellness. This position will also assist with ongoing program planning, development and implementation of diabetes-related chronic disease prevention and treatment projects Conduct regular trips to village clinics to provide patient care. Collaborate with YKDRH and Sub-regional clinic providers to ensure patients are receiving care according to American Diabetes Association’s Standards of Care. Provide technical assistance and training to medical staff on Diabetes issues and current standards of care.
