Responsibilities

Under the direction of the director/ charge nurse, the RN utilizes the nursing process, facilitates patient care making nursing assessments and diagnosis, formulates care plans based on the diagnosis and implements and evaluates the plan of care.

Experience Required

A minimum of 2 years ED experience, or a minimum of 1 full year in the ED with 1 full year in another hospital care area.
Experience in the ED should be current, or within 1 year.
Acceptable experience, in lieu of ED experience: –Any critical care nursing or Paramedic experience on a 1:1 basis
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to: Performing comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination Administering MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing, and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interaction Educating patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence, addressing misconceptions and stigma Monitoring patients in the induction, stabilization, and phases of treatment patient ensuring adherence to the program Collaborating with MAT team, including physicians, counselors, and other nurses to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, counseling, and other support services Communicating patient status changes to the care team, which may include providers, behavioral health specialists, and other support staff Accurately documenting patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the EHR Providing all phases of patient support and treatment including nursing visits, urine toxicology screens, labs, medication education, pill counts, observing dosing, and medication refills Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within FL Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required) Five years’ experience as an RN with at least one year of experience in the field of substance abuse Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
