What you will do in this role:

You will evaluate patients prior to surgery
You will provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
You will assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
You will participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
You will recognize and respond to patient emergencies
You will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
You will be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
You will consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
You will assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly
You will educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures

What qualifications you will need:

Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required
Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
1 year of OR experience
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification

What You Will Do In Your Role: You will plan and prioritize age and specialty appropriate care of each patient assigned by communicating relevant information to appropriate healthcare professionals You will competently and accurately complete age appropriate comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment of patients; takes nursing history assessment to identify nursing diagnosis/patient care needs You will evaluate the patient/family response to, and outcome(s) of, implemented care and modifies the plan of care accordingly You will implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual CV Neuro ICU patients You will promote, initiate or coordinate interdisciplinary care provision in an open communication system with patients, nursing personnel, physicians, clergy, and with all other persons who influence patient progress What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing is required Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date) 1 year of RN ICU experience in an acute care setting preferred BLS & ACLS Certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) As a full-service, 420+ bed acute care hospital , HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood has provided the northeast Houston community with high-quality, cost-effective healthcare for over 25 years.
