Plaza Healthcare and Rehab Center is seeking a talented, motivated, and hard-working Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our ever-growing team. This key leadership role also serves as the Infection Preventionist for the facility.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in overseeing nursing operations while leading the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program. This role works collaboratively with facility leadership, clinical staff, and public health authorities to ensure high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the Nursing Department

  • Identify nursing service needs, challenges, and progress, and recommend improvements

  • Enforce facility policies and provide guidance to nursing staff

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator and Director of Nursing

  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor the delivery and quality of nursing care

  • Coordinate and manage administrative functions related to nursing services

  • Recognize, stem, and contain infectious outbreaks

  • Track employee vaccination statuses and manage weekly testing requirements

  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate educational programs that support professional development and clinical competency for nursing and facility staff

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program in compliance with Federal and New Jersey Department of Health regulations

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Current Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in the State of practice

  • Ability to make independent decisions and exercise mature judgment

  • Strong skills in planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting nursing programs, policies, and procedures

  • Experience in supervision and infection control and prevention practices

  • Working knowledge of New Jersey Department of Health and Federal regulations related to infection control

  • Must complete an approved Infection Preventionist course during the orientation period
