Summary

Responsibilities

Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations, identifying short and long term professional goals.

Utilizes the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as the foundation for nursing practice.

Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and others practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice.

Makes decisions and takes actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner, and care is delivered in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity preserving patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.

Collaborates with the patient, family, and other health care providers in the formation of overall goals and the plan of care, as well as in decisions related to care and the delivery of services.

Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, evidence based-practice, and cost in planning & delivering patient care, and assists the patient and family in identifying and securing appropriate and available services to address health-related needs.

Specific experience may be required for each work area.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

  • Current registered nurse license in the State of Alaska.
  • Current Basic Life Support card required.
  • All other certifications as required for specific work area : New Employees must obtain the required certifications within six months of hire; New graduates must obtain the required certifications within 18 months of hire; Contract and MOA employees must come to us with the required training completed as outlined in their individual contracts/MOAs, and must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Alaska and remain active with all annual licensing requirements.

Preferred Education Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Preferred Certification Qualification

National certification is preferred.

Job Summary and Qualifications As a highly-skilled and compassionate Cath-Lab Nurse you will provide assistance with all invasive cardiac, vascular and interventional procedures. These procedures include but are not limited to: cardiac catheterizations and/or coronary interventions, EP device and ablation therapies, interventional radiology, neuro diagnostic/interventions, endovascular procedures, and structural Heart (LAAC, TAVR) procedures. You will facilitate effective communication among departmental staff to ensure interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care. Uses appropriate SBAR process for hand-off communication. You will assist the patient through all aspects of the procedure, including transport, site preparation, sterile procedure, patient monitoring, and hemostasis following removal of catheter or sheath, and return to room. Manages emergent cases. You will maintain accurate, timely and compliant patient records. Completes all paperwork associated with these procedures and prepares tests for physician interpretation. You will demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations You will collaborate with fellow members of the team and orient and needed. Description Using the Synergy Model, the Sr Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS): Supports, supervises, and evaluates staff new to a clinical setting during their first 90 to 180 days (18 months at PAMC) on the unit. Acts within the nurse-patient, nurse-nurse, and nurse-system spheres. Facilitates a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach in the provision of health care, within a specialty area. Responsible for the promotion of excellence in the provision of nursing care through the implementation of clinical standards of practice and establishing competency standards for staff members.
