**This position is for RN Students who have completed first semester of clinicals. **


The Nurse Intern under the directions and supervision of professional and practical nursing staff, performs routine duties in caring for infants through geriatric patients’ needs and unit maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs routine duties in caring for patients’ needs and activities of daily living, i.e., hygiene, comfort, ambulation.
• Functions as an assistant to the nurse as assigned.
• Documents and maintains data or patient’s record.
• Demonstrates and promotes an awareness of patient’s age, growth, development, and cultural / spiritual.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Performs related work as required.
• Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
• Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment.


Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a RN program approved by the LA State Board of Nursing and have completed first semester of nursing clinicals.
