JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Registered Nurse, S.W.A.T., assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients in areas assigned, providing care in multiple settings, including Emergency Services, ICU/Telemetry, Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Surgical Services as appropriate to skills and training. This position may supervise the care given by Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Aides, Emergency Room Technicians, and other support staff. The Registered Nurse, S.W.A.T., has contact with patients under a variety of circumstances and may handle emergent or crisis situations. This position maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting, demonstrates the values contained in the OMC and Nursing Department mission and philosophy statements, and supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing and OMC. 

EDUCATION

  • Graduate from accredited school of nursing required. 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a hospital setting with emergency and/or ICU experience required.
  • PACU/Recovery/Surgical experience preferred.

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

  • Washington State RN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required within 60 days of hire.

Position Details: Per Diem - Robert Packer Hospital – 8 NW unit Department Details: 8 NW is a Cardiac Telemetry Unit with 20 beds that cares for a variety of Cardiac, Vascular and Cardio-Thoracic Patients. STEMI, PCI, TAVR, ICD, PPM, CABG Pre and Post interventions. Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty. Education, License, & Certification(s): - Registered Nurse in the State of Practice - BSN in Nursing preferred - Any previously agreed upon effective date for obtaining a Bachelor's degree in nursing between individuals and facilities will remain in effect, including those who transition to their position from the NLRN Program - Any contract with specific time frames for obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing will supersede the above point and will remain in effect - Specialty Certification is preferred - BLS certification - ACLS is unit dependent Experience: The Registered Nurse must be a registered nurse currently licensed in the state of employment with at least one year of experience.
