Job Description
Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN)-Per Diem performs pre and post-anesthesia nursing assessment and recovery for patients post-operation in the scope of RN practice. Is available to assist anesthesiologists with procedures as requested and to intervene in medical emergencies throughout the School of Dentistry. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Minimum two years of clinical experience in area of specialty required.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to relate to and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and to perform patient assessments; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
Licensures and Certifications: California Registered Nurse license required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
