Job Description

The Registered Nurse reports directly to the Sr. Director of Surgical Services. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care in assigned area based on individual patient needs, medical plan, and in accordance with established nursing standards and administrative policy. The RN utilizes the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The RN communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team to coordinate quality patient care. The RN participates in maintaining unit organization. The RN participates in staff development conferences and programs. The RN guides and teaches auxiliary personnel and assists in the orientation of new staff members. The RN performs other related duties as necessary or as assigned. Participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.

Qualifications

Current Alabama licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse. Prefer two years prior clinical experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing; prefer prior PACU/Critical Care experience. Ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and diabetes experience preferred. BLS certification required by the end of employee provisional period. ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment.
