In this crucial position, you’ll collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care for patients of all ages—from neonates to geriatrics. Your expertise and preparation will directly impact patient outcomes and surgical team performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile surgical field before and during procedures.

  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on your knowledge of the procedure and surgeon preferences.

  • Ensure all instruments and equipment are accounted for, sterilized, and functioning properly.

  • Monitor patient conditions and respond to surgical team requests quickly and accurately.

  • Assist with positioning devices, specialty equipment, and surgical implants.

  • Participate in specialized surgical services (e.g., cardiac, orthopedic, neuro), including taking call for specialty areas.

  • Continuously evaluate case details and contribute updates to preference cards and procedure protocols.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required.

  • BLS certification (required by completion of core orientation).

  • Ability to perform scrub duties across multiple specialties; advanced roles (STII) may include spinal fusions in both neuro and ortho.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist in handling equipment and positioning patients.

The Surgical Technologist Assistant is directly responsible to the Surgeon, the RN Operating Room Circulator, and the OR Nurse Manager.
