Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field required. A degree in Nursing is required at either the bachelor’s or master’s level; candidates with a non-nursing bachelor’s degree must hold a master’s degree in Nursing. In addition, seven (7) years of nursing managerial experience is required.
American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) certification required within two (2) years of hire.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:
Valid RN License.

Responsibilities
- Oversees the integration of nursing practice within hospital operations by coordinating resources to provide maximum level of services to patients and support for clinical staff
- Coordinates nursing organization's efforts to review and maintain compliance with all regulatory, state, federal government and DNV or TJC standards. Performs in-depth analysis of nursing core measures
- Encourages the development and participation of others through shared governance and by mentoring emerging leaders, networking across the system and ensuring the involvement of frontline staff as well as leaders
- Collaborates in the establishment and implementation of short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, polices, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and implements changes as necessary
- Oversees all acute care clinical nursing staff to include, hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring, and evaluating performance. Initiates corrective or disciplinary action
- Manages the acute care unit’s finances and participates in departmental budget preparation. Monitors expense and revenue performance of the nursing units
- Prepares, analyzes, and submits productivity and data reports
- Makes recommendations and changes as needed to safely meet organizational goals
- Participates in strategic goal development and goal setting for nursing and works collaboratively with other departments partnering to ensure mutual success
- Demonstrates leadership in advancing practice, improving systems and managing resources. May be asked to cover for the chief nurse executive officer in his/her absence
- Responsible evaluating and coordinating delivery of services and oversight and monitoring of clinical quality improvement processes, education and resources
- Serves as an expert nursing resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel. Provides educational and training needs concerning medications to health care professional, patients, and their families
