Position Summary:

Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan
  • Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course
  • ACLS within one year of hire/transfer
  • NIHSS Certification; if not current, must be obtained within twelve months of hire/transfer
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.

Preferred:

  • Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent

Summary This position must have basic knowledge of general and complex rehabilitation patients and able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients. Other Responsibilities Demonstrates critical thinking and integration of theory to practice for Rehabilitation patients. Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback. Maintains medical supplies to assure consistent supply levels to meet the needs of the patients. Room patients during office visits and perform and record all vital signs on patient. Assess physical as well as social needs of the patient. Verify patient demographic information and maintain clinical documentation. Management of the patient with symptoms management, and will be available for care emergencies. Calls in prescriptions and teach the patient and family the reasons for the medications and side effects. Serve as a resource to technical, clerical and medical staff. Identifies preventative maintenance needs for any office equipment. Conducts performance review of clinical staff and conducts follow up as appropriate. All other duties as assigned. Certifications and Licensures BLS: Basic Life Support Within 1 month of hire or transfer RN: Registered Nurse Required Education Associate's degree is required Bachelor's degree in nursing at time of hire or transfer to position preferred. New requirement added in March 2020, incumbents with an Associate's degree in nursing have until 1/1/2025 to obtain a Bachelor's degree in nursing. Other Information Experience, Training And Skills Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees. One (1) Year Of Supervisory Experience Preferred. Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. PC software knowledge must include: Excel and Word. Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures as normally acquired through three to five years working in the healthcare system or similar setting Physical/Mental Requirements And Typical Working Conditions Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium.
