Responsibilities The Nurse Assistant in the Med Surg/Telemetry Department is an unlicensed non-certified assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Qualifications Education and Work Experience 1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred. 2. Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current. 3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology. 4. Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred. Position Summary: Provides health care for patients under the direction of a nurse. Assists patients under their care with day-to-day tasks, playing a vital support role. Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising. Turns and repositions bedridden patients. Ensures patients receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
