Overview of Position:

Administers skilled direct and indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients according to the patient’s plan of care under the direction of the registered nurse. Adheres to universal precautions and is compliant with infection control policies. Carries out job requirements as delegated by and with the supervision of a registered nurse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1    Provides patient care, under the direction of an RN, in a warm and friendly manner.
2    Accurately takes and records measurements or readings.
3    Administers prescribed medications as indicated/documented by prescribing physician.
4    Works collaboratively with other caregivers on the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High school diploma or equivalent.
2.    One year previous experience.
3.    Current Ohio LPN license.
4.    Current IV certification for LPN (unless otherwise noted below)
a.    IV certification obtained within one year of employment if working for the Genesis Surgery Center.
b.    IV certification is not required for the following areas:  Surgery (excluding Genesis Surgery Center, see above), Endoscopy, Hospice, Palliative care, and Hospital-Based Physician Offices (HOD offices). 
5.    Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of orientation.
6.    Completion of an approved pharmacology course.
7.    Ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others
8.    Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan
9.    Ability to read, calculate, and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
