Overview
The Director of Nursing Clinical Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for clinical programs across Montefiore Einstein hospitals. This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day clinical operations, driving performance improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with physician, nursing, and administrative leaders to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care across multiple sites and service lines.
Direct and optimize daily clinical operations across inpatient and/or ambulatory settings, including staffing models, patient flow, access, and capacity management.
Lead operational execution for multiple practice sites or departments, ensuring consistency with Montefiore Einstein clinical standards. Partner with department chairs, medical directors, and nursing leadership to align operations with clinical objectives.
Responsibilities
Performance Improvement & Quality
- Drive quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives using data, KPIs, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA).
- Monitor operational dashboards related to throughput, access, clinical productivity, and patient satisfaction.
- Lead remediation plans for underperforming sites or metrics.
Financial & Resource Management
- Manage and monitor operating budgets, productivity targets, and expense controls across assigned clinical areas.
- Oversee resource allocation including staffing, equipment, space utilization, and vendor relationships.
- Support forecasting and strategic growth initiatives in partnership with finance and senior leadership.
- Provide leadership and development for managers, supervisors, and clinical support staff.
- Set goals, conduct performance evaluations, and build leadership bench strength across operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Eight years of relevant work experience in a clinical setting which includes at least three years of administrative and clinical management experience.
- Oncology experience required/Master's Degree in Health Administration, Policy, Business, Nursing or related field strongly preferred.
- New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration.
- Master of Science degree in Nursing.
