Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced, independent healthcare services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. NPs are essential in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, patient management, and knowledge of state-specific regulations regarding the scope of practice.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions, including prescribing medications and therapies. Provide health education and counseling to patients and families. Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to plan and deliver patient care. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Adhere to Arkansas State Board of Nursing regulations and guidelines in clinical practice.

Knowledge and Skills

Advanced knowledge of medical and nursing practices, including pharmacology, pathophysiology, and patient care protocols. Strong diagnostic and critical thinking skills. Ability to prescribe and administer medications within the scope of practice. Proficient in the use of healthcare technologies and electronic health records (EHR). Ability to develop individualized patient care plans and provide health education. Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Arkansas. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.

Additional Information: An APRN utilizes a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems of pediatric patients and their families. Provides care for patients with unstable chronic, complex acute and critical condition. Possesses an advanced knowledge level, skill, and competence in the provision of care to specific patient and family populations and serves across the AC care continuum as a clinical resource. The APRN practices autonomously in a collaborative practice setting with a physician. Gathers information for both new and established patients such as medical history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical examination, behavioral, development and psychosocial assessments. 2. Assesses and identifies patient/family physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural needs for assigned patient population. 3. Accurately interprets health assessment data and applies findings in directing patient care. 4. Provides ongoing and follow-up care including appropriate pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments and patient/family education. 5. Documents all health data including plan of care and care according to policy, patient/family outcomes, and reassessments and plan modifications. 6. Accurately completes all billing forms, including diagnostic (ICD-9) and treatment (CPT) codes, based on federal and state laws and AC policy. 7. Communicates with referring physicians, health providers, and hospital staff as appropriate. 8. Actively participates in quality improvement activities and the development strategies to improve patient care delivery and cost effectiveness. 9. Disseminates relevant research findings through practice, publication, education, and/or consultation. 10. Participates in AC, local and national professional nursing organizations as appropriate to maintain and share expertise. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.
