Clinical Nurse Specialist – CNS – Critical Care - Days
Working alongside Columbia doctors, you’ll be an integral partner in the delivery of team-based care to our most critically-ill patients. In this clinical leadership role, you will serve as a change-agent; leveraging your clinical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery and quality outcomes for our 12-bed medical-surgical ICU and 25-bed medical stepdown unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives
- Developing and implementing action plans in response to changes in benchmark data.
- Identifying and implementing strategies to improve clinical practice.
- Providing expert consultation to nurses caring for complex patients.
- Assessing learning needs and coordinating unit-based education and development initiatives.
- Mentoring nursing and ancillary staff on the application of evidence-based practice
This is a full time position position working Monday-Friday at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital.
Preferred Criteria
- Experience applying principles of continuous quality improvement
- CCRN (Adult) or PCCN certification
Required Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience
- NYS RN licensure
- CNS certificate through ANCC or AACN
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire/transfer
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork
