Job Description

Bed Coordinator coordinates patient placement throughout the organization. Oversees, coordinates, and manages patient bed placement for optimized patient throughput. Acts in collaboration with Departmental Leaders and Medical Staff for appropriate bed management.

Hours: PRN, must be able to work during the week

Requirement: Active RN in the State of IL

Responsibilities

Assessment - Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation.  Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data., Assist the VP, Patient Care Continuum/CNO and other department leaders in accordance with the mission and objectives of the organization, Assist with patient information to authorized personnel as indicated., Attends daily Bed Management meetings to facilitate patient flow., Collaborates with Nursing Supervisor or Departmental Leaders to facilitate patient throughout., Completes special projects as assigned., Coordination of Care - Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines., Diagnosis - Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnosis, problems, issues., Evaluation - Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.  Reports data and outcomes to others as appropriate., Facilitates formal and informal lines of communication between other departments and nursing., Implementation - Implements care or work plan in alignment with the plan and approved safety, infection control,and department/organization standards., Knowledge - In collaboration with leaders, actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the position, reading current literature and seeking new learning opportunities., Make bed assignments based on diagnosis, age, gender, isolation requirements and bed availability; takes into consideration the unit activities and coordinates the bed assignments with patient care areas to include staffing variances and patient care needs., Outcomes Identification - Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situations., Planning - Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes., Promotes good communication between the Nursing Division and the Medical Staff., Relationships - Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care / work team.  Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient / work decisions., Teaching - Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

The hospital has delivered many medical firsts for the community, including Central and West O'ahu’s only interventional cardiac catheterization unit to detect and treat heart disease, a fully integrated minimally invasive surgical suite, a comprehensive women’s center, CT scan and MRI services, and the state’s first retina center.
