Job Duties

This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $80,672 - $103,404.

$7,500 Sign on Bonus or $10,000 Student Loan Repayment may be available for eligible new hires.

Provide nursing care within adult institutions by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per the standards of practice. Standard of care is achieved through a multitude of services to include 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life supporting/emergency care. Document all pertinent information into the health record while practicing confidentiality and interfacing with other departments on an as-needed basis. Registered Nurses possess the ability to delegate tasks/workload and work hours, days, and locations as assigned. Registered Nurses are capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs. To provide evidence-based nursing care and promote continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.

Please note: This position is located at Haynesville Correctional Center in Richmond County, Virginia—not the City of Richmond. Richmond County is approximately 57 miles northeast of the City of Richmond.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing program

Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia RN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license (if you are a recent graduate of a nursing program in VA and not licensed, the NCLEX-RN exam must be scheduled at the time of application)

Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire

Experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg – Rappahannock General Hospital Job Summary: The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by: Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status Providing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses Implementing clinical nursing interventions Having a highly diverse medical skillset Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment Essential Functions: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting and assess patient condition Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures Other duties as assigned Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred) Work Experience: One year of RN experience (required) Six months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred) Required Licensing & Certifications: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support acceptable in lieu of BLS) Bon Secours is an equal opportunity employer.
