Job Description:
Assists the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) in planning, organizing, developing and directing the daily operations of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards and regulations as directed by the DNS or Administrator. Represents the DNS at meetings and on committees as required. Ensures the highest quality care is given at all times in a safe, secure facility.
With guidance of DNS, the Registered Nurse Assistant Director of Nursing Services plans special studies and evaluations of specific nursing functions to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assists in coordinating nursing services with all other resident services and other facility staff. Fosters and maintains inter-departmental communication and cooperation to ensure that issues are addressed correctly. The Registered Nurse Assistant Director of Nursing participates in a quality assurance process as well as in DPH surveys and inspections and assists with actions to correct deficiencies. In the absence of the DNS, assumes overall responsibility of the DNS position. Acts as a Nursing Supervisor as required.
The Registered Nurse Assistant Director of Nursing Services ensures accurate completion of A&I reports and investigations in accordance with policies. Tracks incident trends, performs root cause analysis and develops interventions for accident prevention. Assists with performance evaluation of nursing department staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current unencumbered RN license in state of CT
Previous experience in long term care
Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous ADNS or DNS experience in a skilled nursing facility.
