Caregiver/Companion

Job Overview:

We are hiring a compassionate caregiver for weekend-only shifts (Saturday & Sunday) to support clients with hands-on care and daily living needs.

New hires will receive a $250 bonus after successfully completing three months of employment with the company.

The Caregiver/Companion provides companionship to those individuals requiring socialization and/or minimum guidance to assure a protected environment and performs home management services within the client’s home. The Caregiver/Companion follows the service plan and promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Caregiver includes, but are not limited to the following:

1. Assist clients with hands-on personal care needs, including mobility, hygiene, and daily living tasks.
2. Provides companionship by reading, conversation, and listening. 
3. Participates in appropriate recreational activities and hobbies for social and sensory stimulation.
4. Maintains a safe home environment for the client.
5. Accompany clients on walks, community trips, doctor’s office, bank, etc.
6. Inform Agency Manager/Care Designer of any changes in assignment.
7. Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being.
8. May prepare meals.
9. May perform light housework and laundering of clothing to maintain a clean, neat environment.
10. Assists in the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment.
11. Grocery shopping with or without a client.
12. Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.

Education And/or Experience

1.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
2.  Training in topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, food handling, and principals of cleanliness and safety.
3.  Clean driving record

Skills and Abilities

1.  Experience with hands-on caregiving, including personal care and mobility support. 
2. Ability to communicate effectively with patient/client, family members, clinical management, and staff. 
3.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
4.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
5.  Communication skills, light housekeeping skills, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
6. Caring attitude, tact, patience, and good personal hygiene. 

Physical Demands

The work requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as driving and light housekeeping.

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and occasionally required to sit.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Client home setting, exposure to infectious diseases, automobile, clients could have pets and could smoke.
