Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential care and support to residents, assisting with daily living activities such as hygiene, meals, mobility, and comfort. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, documenting care activities, and reporting observations to nursing supervisors. CNAs ensure residents' privacy and dignity while adhering to HIPAA guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. They contribute to a safe and supportive environment, participate in educational opportunities to maintain certification, and perform other duties as assigned to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Be able to perform all functions under your active license or certification or as it pertains to your assigned duties.
  • Know the residents you serve, providing care based on their care plans.
  • Assist in all aspects of a resident’s daily life, including activities of daily living, meal service, and social engagement.
  • Appropriately communicate with clinical leadership when a resident’s needs change.
  • Know how to approach and care for residents with dementia.
  • Be willing to take on other duties and assignments within the scope of your knowledge and experience.

Qualifications:

  • An active Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) License or Certification in good standing.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to take additional training or education, which specific states may require.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Assume the authority, responsibility & accountability of Activity Assistant/Aide. Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident’s response to the service. Develop & maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to assure that daily activities can be performed without interruption. Create & maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department. Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions. Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident. Purchase department supplies, clothing and personal items for the residents. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information & follow facility guidelines in reporting non-compliance with said guidelines & treat residents with dignity at all times. Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.
