We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team in delivering exceptional resident care and achieving strong clinical outcomes.

About the Director of Nursing RN(DON) Role

The Director of Nursing serves as the clinical leader of the facility, ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care. This role oversees nursing operations, supports staff development, and promotes a positive and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all nursing care operations within the facility.

  • Develop, implement, and uphold nursing policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care and regulatory compliance.

  • Mentor, coach, and support the nursing team through regular feedback and performance evaluations.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive work culture.

  • Ensure nursing staff maintain required licensure and certifications.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to enhance resident care and operational outcomes.

  • Analyze patient care data to guide quality improvement efforts.

  • Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively.

  • Work with facility leadership to achieve clinical and organizational goals.

  • Ensure residents consistently receive compassionate, high‑quality nursing care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field required.

  • Current RN licensure.

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility.

  • Participation in the on‑call schedule is required.

  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

  • Strong knowledge of nursing regulations, compliance, and best practices.

  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.

  • Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.

  • Experience managing budgets and departmental operations.

  • Proficiency with electronic health records and healthcare technology.

Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements: Current license to practice nursing in Florida (or eligible to receive or renew). Current CPR or BLS certification. Five (5) years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing, including Charge Nurse experience preferred. Must have thorough working knowledge of Hospital, Nursing, and Management of Human Resources policies and procedures, with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical and managerial situations. Physical Requirements: Physical agility to manage patients with crisis prevention interventions. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Additional Requirements : Must be able to read, understand, and follow: policies, procedures, and written treatment plans. Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test. Must be able to interact positively with patients on a daily basis whose behavior may be challenging, uncooperative or aggressive. Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions; Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion; Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal. Current CPR or BLS certification or successful completion of during orientation. Successful completion of Handle with Care prior within 7 days of orientation.
