Responsibilities as a Unit Manager:

Responsible for the daily operations of a nursing unit within the facility
Supervise CNAs, LPNs, and RNs and participate in their evaluations including competency checklists
Assist in solving clinical and administrative problems
Supervise care delivery systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
Provide clinical expertise in medical, behavioral, and crisis management
Participate with the Interdisciplinary Team in developing, implementing, and evaluating a means to achieve resident care goals
Coordinate with the Director of Nursing to accomplish facility and patient-care goals
Provide regular resident status updates to appropriate personnel
Conduct and document a complete data collection of each resident’s medical status upon admission and throughout the resident’s course of treatment
Assist in the development and implementation of an individualized treatment plan for each assigned resident
Assist nursing personnel to act in compliance with corporate policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
Provide excellent customer service to our residents and families
Communicate with families and physicians regarding our residents

Requirements for a Unit Manager:

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
Nursing: 1 year (Preferred)
Point Click Care: 1 year (Preferred)
Excellent communication skills

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Inpatient, Crisis and Acute Psychiatric Services within Rutgers Behavioral Health Care. The Nurse Manager provides nursing services and participates in the delivery of individualized, goal directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements. Responsible for managing 24/7 programming for nursing services within Inpatient Services, Crisis Services, Acute Psychiatric Services, and the Children’s Transitional Residence. Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation. Assesses and evaluates staffing patterns for proper utilization of personnel in relation to patient needs in assigned units, and prepares appropriate work schedules. Supervises nursing staff in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating delivery of patient care and assists multidisciplinary treatment teams in communicating and coordinating patient care.
