Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct resident care in accordance with individualized care plans, physician orders, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. The CNA plays a vital role in supporting residents to maintain their highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being while preserving dignity and respect.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, and feeding
Assist with ambulation, transfers, turning, positioning, and range-of-motion exercises
Measure and record vital signs, weights, intake and output as assigned
Observe and promptly report changes in resident condition to the licensed nurse
Answer call lights promptly and respond to resident needs with compassion and professionalism
Support meal service and hydration programs
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment
Follow infection control procedures and proper PPE use
Accurately document care provided
Protect resident privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
Promote resident rights and immediately report concerns of abuse, neglect, or safety issues
Participate in interdisciplinary communication and required in-services

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted Illinois CNA certification
CPR certification
Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
Skilled nursing facility experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and/or assist residents (up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance)
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Ability to work in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases
