Position Overview
A Place At Home – Fairfield South is seeking a kind and reliable Caregiver to support clients receiving hospice care in Ridgefield, CT. In this role, caregivers provide comfort, companionship, and personal support to individuals during sensitive times. The caregiver helps maintain a calm, safe, and respectful environment while assisting clients with daily activities and supporting families throughout the care process.
Essential Functions

Observe and report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the supervisor or care team.

Assist with personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while maintaining the client’s dignity and comfort.

Provide medication reminders according to the care plan (non-medical).

Prepare light meals and snacks and assist with feeding if needed.

Help with light housekeeping, including laundry, dishes, and keeping the home organized and safe.

Offer companionship, emotional support, and a comforting presence for the client.

Assist with repositioning, mobility, and transfers to ensure comfort and safety.

Provide a peaceful and supportive environment for both the client and their family.

Document care provided and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of care.

Always respect the client’s privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Skills & Qualifications

Compassionate and patient when supporting clients and families during end-of-life care.

Ability to assist with personal care while maintaining respect and comfort for the client.

Good communication skills to work with clients, families, and the care team.

Ability to stay calm and supportive during emotional or difficult moments.
-
Knowledge of safe mobility and transfer techniques preferred.
-
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
Education & Experience
-
CNA, HHA, or similar caregiving experience preferred.

Hospice or end-of-life care experience is a plus.
-
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and TB test (or willingness to obtain).

Must pass background and drug screening (with random checks if applicable).

Physically able to assist clients with mobility and daily care tasks.
