As a minimum data set nurse, or MDS nurse, your job duties include the assessment, monitoring, and documentation of patient care at a residential or long-term care facility. You collect information and data and use it to create reports on patient health care at the facility. State and federal governments mandate such documentation and data collection, so you must collect and report information based on government guidelines. You may also act as a liaison between facility management and insurance providers.
