Job Description – Family Health Nurse Practitioner
Location: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBNJ), New Jersey

Position Summary:
The Family Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, and women’s health populations. The NP will deliver outcome-based care in accordance with privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF), ensuring high-quality, patient-centered healthcare in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay Rate: $76.43 per hour
Health & Welfare (H&W): $4.57 per hour
Paid Time Off (PTO): 80 hours annually (accrued)
Sick Leave: 56 hours annually (accrued)
Holidays: 11 paid annually
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree in Family Health/Primary Care Nursing.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
Certification:
National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC, AANP, or equivalent).
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
ACLS and PALS desired but not mandatory.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years full-time experience as a Family Health NP.
Recent experience (within the last 6 months) working with pediatric patients (ages 0–17).
Additional Requirement: Women’s Health clinical experience within the last 24- 36 months (no minimum length required).
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive screening, medical care, and examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions.
Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and minor trauma.Perform minor procedures (e.g., biopsies, suturing, toenail removal, abscess drainage, Pap exams, IV placement).
Order/prescribe medications and adjust dosages based on patient needs.Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging) and coordinate specialty referrals.
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and health maintenance.
Promote positive health behaviors and self-care through counseling and education.
Collaborate with physicians, NPs, PAs, RNs, and other staff to facilitate primary care services.
Mentor junior staff and participate in peer review, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Respond to patient emergencies and assist in urgent care situations.Cover for other Primary Care and Women’s Health providers as needed.
