Registered Nurse (RN) – Job Corps Wellness Center
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services within the Job Corps wellness clinic and works in collaboration with the Health and Wellness Manager and medical providers. The RN is responsible for ensuring that all healthcare services delivered to students comply with Department of Labor (DOL) requirements and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Work Schedule
• Monday – Friday
• Up to 40 hours per week
• Maximum 2,000 hours per year
• Services provided on an as-needed basis
• Approximately two weeks of non-working period during the Job Corps Christmas break
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to students as authorized by medical providers and within the scope of practice under the applicable Nurse Practice Act.
- Assist medical providers with healthcare services and clinical activities.
- Supervise Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and nursing scope of practice.
- Provide basic healthcare services including immunizations, vision screenings, hearing screenings, and phlebotomy as required.
- Monitor students who are ill or temporarily unable to attend classes due to medical conditions.
- Conduct health record audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance and effective service delivery.
- Manage chronic illness cases including medication management and coordination of care.
- Ensure all clinical services are performed within federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Assist with record keeping and reporting of student injuries and medical incidents.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to LVN staff.
- Assist in developing partnerships with community healthcare providers and resources.
- Provide oversight of wellness center activities when the Health and Wellness Manager is unavailable.
- Participate in meetings and required Department of Labor and Job Corps program activities.
- Support student development programs and reinforce Career Success Standards.
- Maintain accountability for staff, students, and government property while adhering to safety procedures.
Candidate Qualifications and Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. state or territory.
- Valid professional license documentation must be provided at the time of submission.
- Valid DEA license if applicable to the scope of duties.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
- Ability to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Experience providing nursing care in clinical, institutional, school, correctional, military, or community healthcare environments preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults is preferred.
- Ability to perform medical screenings including immunizations, vision screening, hearing screening, and phlebotomy.
- Strong clinical documentation and medical record management skills. Ability to supervise and provide guidance to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs).
- Ability to pass background investigations as required by the facility and federal regulations.
