UNIT Nurse Manager (RN/LVN)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Unit Nurse Manager (RN or LVN) to provide clinical leadership and oversight for nursing care within an assigned unit. This role is responsible for supervising nursing staff, ensuring highquality resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting a collaborative interdisciplinary care model.
The Unit Nurse Manager plays a critical role in resident outcomes by coordinating care, responding to changes in condition, mentoring staff, and ensuring accurate documentation and survey readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Resident Care
- Provide direct supervision and clinical oversight of nursing care during assigned shifts
- Perform daily rounds on residents, monitoring for changes in condition, wounds, IV therapy, infections, and highrisk concerns
- Initiate timely physician communication using SBAR and follow up on labs, orders, and treatment plans
- Participate in admissions, readmissions, care planning, and resident assessments
Staff Supervision & Support
- Supervise LVNs and CNAs, including medication administration, treatments, and ADLs
- Provide realtime coaching, education, and performance feedback
- Address staffing needs, calloffs, and shift coverage to ensure safe staffing levels
Care Planning & Documentation
- Oversee and update individualized care plans based on resident condition changes
- Review MARs/TARs, nursing notes, and admission documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Conduct chart audits and provide inservices to support survey readiness
Interdisciplinary & Physician Coordination
- Collaborate with physicians, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments
- Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings
- Coordinate hospital transfers and discharge planning
Risk Management & Compliance
- Investigate and document falls, incidents, pressure injuries, and infections
- Ensure adherence to infection control, isolation precautions, and safety protocols
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards
Shift Management
- Conduct clinical huddles and shifttoshift reports
- Ensure all orders, documentation, and followups are completed before shift end
Qualifications
Licensure & Certification
- Current, unrestricted RN or LVN license (State of California)
- Current BCLS certification
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Experience
- Minimum 6 months of longterm care or acute care nursing experience within the past two years, or equivalent competency
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical judgment and leadership abilities
- Experience with IV therapy, wound care, and medically complex residents
- Effective communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of infection control, safety, and compliance standards
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs
- Frequent standing and walking in a clinical environment
- Use of PPE as required (gowns, masks, gloves)
- Indoor facility work with occasional exposure to noise and clinical hazards
