Job Summary:

Blue Palms Health and Rehabilitation Center of DeLand is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our team. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will be responsible for providing direct care to our residents while ensuring the safe administration of medication. Your knowledge and expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medication to residents according to prescribed orders and established policies and procedures

  • Document medications administered and any observed reactions or changes in resident condition

  • Monitor residents for any possible adverse reactions to medication and report findings to the nurse

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, and bathing

  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents, promoting their dignity and independence

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans

  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized medication room and stock supplies as needed

Requirements:

  • Valid certification as a Medication Aide

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a long-term care or assisted living facility

  • Excellent knowledge of medication administration procedures and guidelines

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively

  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to resident care

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records systems (EMR)

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

Job Description Responsible for supervision of self-administered medication for the Memory Care Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Director of Health & Wellness. Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Contact a supervisor immediately with discrepancies. Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days. Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received. Responsible for receiving and verifying all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR.
