Our Rehabilitation and Nursing Center offers short-term rehabilitation after surgery, serious injury or illness. We help patients with many different medical needs and conditions, including neuro recovery and treatment following stroke and brain injury; rehabilitation after elective total joint surgery or complex orthopedic surgery; reconditioning following severe illness; post-cardiac and medically complex care; and rehabilitation for general needs.

Job Summary

As a member of the nursing team with Corewell Health, providing top-notch patient care is paramount. You'll be responsible for the care of our patients according to their individual plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Essential Functions

  • Provides direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or Licensed Nurse, consistent with policies and procedures of the unit.
  • Responsible for direct day-to-day care of assigned residents/patients including dressing, bathing, transporting and feeding.
  • Documents care provided as directed in a manner consistent with guidelines.
  • Maintains patients’ environment/work area/equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Complete and maintain required number of CNA educational hours.
  • Participation in select unit quality monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of State of Michigan approved CNA Training Course
  • Nursing Assistant - Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems within 90 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Red Cross 90 Days required

About the unit The unit, 3CN/4CN/5CN offer a dynamic patient care experience. 3CN is a ten-bed unit who specializes in general surgery, vascular, and thoracic patients. We are the only progressive care unit in the hospital that can monitor arterial lines. 4CN is a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery unit. We receive patients directly from the ICU and we can monitor patients who are on various anti-arrhythmics. 5CN is focused on discharge plan and readiness. About the unit We are able to provide care for post-acute rehab patients . Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. The facility focus’s on patient specialties, such as neuro rehab, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, heat failure, spinal cord injuries, and joint replacements. The center offers 80 private rooms, each with an accessible bathroom, comfortable seating for guests, a large screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi and beautiful nature views.
