Pay range for this position is $44.10 - $63.23/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a first assistant for surgical procedures. They are responsible for the care of the patient under the direction of the surgeon. They collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to create effective patient care plans for our surgical patients. While in the role of RNFA, the RNFA does not function concurrently as the scrub nurse. The RNFA provides leadership by working cooperatively with all of the medical center staff and works to maintain standards of professional nursing practice. This position reports to the OR clinical manager. The RN First Assistant (RNFA) practices in accordance with applicable regulatory standards, organizational policy, and performs all duties within the scope of RN licensure and education.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Associate degree in nursing
- Experience:
- 2 years' experience in the operating room.
- Licensure/ Certification:
- Registered Nursing License in the State of Illinois RNAS-C or CRNFA certification required within 2 years Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR)
- Successful completion of approved RNFA program that meets the “AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) recommend education, meets requirements of statues, regulations and institutional policies relevant to RN first assistants’ standards for RN first assistant programs” and is accepted by the Certification Board Perioperative Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be pre-approved by Org Dev/Human Resources) completed prior to employment.
- RNFA-C or CRNFA certification required within 5 years.
- Other Skills/ Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience:
- Expertise in multiple specialty areas.
- Licensure/ Certification:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) RNAS-C or CRNFA certification
