Summary/Objective

Provides designated patient care to assigned patients based on previously acquired nursing skills with consultation and under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with physicians' orders and in conformance with approved patient care standards.

  1. Provides designated patient care to assigned patients based on previously acquired nursing skills with consultation and under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with physicians' orders and in conformance with approved patient care standards.
  2. Records graphics, intake and output, and ADL's in the computer and flow sheet accurately.
  3. Communicates and interacts effectively with patients and their families based on sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of patients and implements measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others.
  4. Knowledgeable of the usual and stable baseline conditions (both physical and mental) of the specific patient population in which they are employed and reports objective relevant observations to the licensed nurse to assist in care-planning.
  5. Institute appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications. Utilizes equipment in the provision of patient care services safely and effectively with adaptation of equipment usage to the age and general condition of the patient, as indicated.
  6. Assists in the cleaning, sanitation and tracking of all equipment and supplies used in the unit and adheres to all guidelines regarding use of cleaning products.

     

Required Education and Experience

Current enrollment in accredited nursing program and successful completion of at least 1 clinical rotation.

BLS Certification

Department specific competencies obtained within 6 months
