Job Summary:
Join our compassionate and collaborative outpatient psychiatry team as a Medical Assistant II, where you will play a vital role in supporting individuals receiving behavioral health services. In this role, you will assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care, support clinic and laboratory operations, perform phlebotomy and basic lab testing, and help manage scheduling, documentation, and coordination of medical services. You will also support residential and outpatient locations as assigned and collaborate closely with nursing and clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities:
· Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care, examinations, and treatments
· Prepare patients for exams by obtaining histories, verifying information, and collecting vital signs
· Prepare and maintain exam, treatment, lab, and medication rooms
· Perform injections, phlebotomy, and general laboratory testing as permitted by training and certification
· Assist with appointment scheduling, prior authorizations, chart management, and clinic workflows
· Support insurance assistance and coordination of care services
· Provide accurate information to clients to support engagement in clinic services
· Visit residential locations as assigned and coordinate care with Residential RN staff
· Review physician orders, MARs, diet and choking precaution forms during visits
· Identify additional medical training needs and communicate with the care team
· Support communications with physicians, pharmacies, and medical specialists
· Assist with hospital visits, discharge planning, and follow‑up medical needs
· Conduct health and medical reviews as directed by leadership
· Check and maintain durable medical equipment and document quarterly reviews
· Accompany clients to medical appointments and advocate for their rights
· Communicate health concerns to the care team and take appropriate action
· Maintain schedules for client medical appointments and send reminders as needed
· Provide direct care support hours to medically involved individuals when required
· Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures
· Manage clinic supply inventory, lab refrigerator temperature logs, and injection calendars
· Perform light housekeeping of clinic, lab, and medication areas
· Participate in required meetings and complete other duties as assigned by nursing staff and leadership
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Licensed Practical Nurse in applicable state
· CPR certification preferred
· Phlebotomy training and prior laboratory experience preferred
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred
Additional Qualifications:
· Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
· Ability to operate calmly during crisis situations
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding protocols
· Ability to read, interpret, and document within electronic health record systems
· Ability to adapt in a fast‑paced, changing environment
· Ability to follow instructions and accept supervision
Physical Requirements
· Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
· Ability to perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing and documentation
· Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing
· Ability to meet the physical demands of a sedentary work environment
