What will you be doing in this role?

The Clinical Nurse, Procedural provides individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in accordance with physician's orders, recognized nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nurse practice within the state of California and Center policies and procedures. Functions collaboratively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and sound judgment in decision-making.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees the performance of tasks related to direct patient care in the pre-op, procedure rooms and PACU. Acts as a resource on clinical issues to all nursing and clinical ancillary staff.
  • Serves as the team leader in the continuity of patient care in the clinical areas and acts as the Administrator/Clinical Director in the Director's absence.
  • Defines and coordinates the adequate staffing of the pre-op, procedure rooms and PACU based on patient daily census and special patient needs.
  • Ensures that all necessary equipment and supplies are ordered for the clinical area and that inventory par levels are maintained.
  • Orders or oversees the ordering of medication and supplies on a weekly basis based on upcoming patient census.
  • Directs the orientation, in-service training and education of assigned personnel, and conducts annual and off-cycle competency training.
  • Participates in setting standards and writing nursing care policies and procedures.
  • Holds monthly staff meetings to keep staff apprised of policy additions and revisions, findings of QI studies and implications, to relay pertinent information, and to allow employees to share ideas and concerns.
  • Serves as a member of the QAPI Committee, compiles QI data and assists in achieving compliance to QI measures at the Center.
  • Assists the Safety Officer in implementing the Safety Program at the Center and ensures that environmental and electrical safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assists the Infection Control Coordinator in implementing the Safety Program at the Center and ensures that infection control policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ensures that clinical personnel accurately and promptly complete medical records.
