Summary/Objective

The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients of any age group admitted to the area employed. The Registered Nurse provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Knows and conforms to the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Texas. Utilizes a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care, developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis, implementing nursing care, and evaluating the patient's responses to nursing interventions..
  2. Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel that take into consideration patient safety and that are commensurate with the educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and physical and emotional ability of the person to whom the assignments are made in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
  3. Implement measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others and knows the rationale for and the effects of medications and treatments and shall correctly administer the same.
  4. Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.
  5. Clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate, non-efficacious or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when the nurse makes the decision not to administer the medication or treatment.
  6. Institute appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications.

Total cash compensation includes earnings from per visit point pay and hourly pay and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. This role receives two types of compensation depending on the work being performed. When conducting visits, you will be paid per visit point rate compensation. Your per visit pay will be calculated by multiplying your per visit point rate by the productivity points you accrue for various types of visits. Each type of visit is assigned a certain number of productivity points that is inclusive of 'direct' and 'indirect' patient care activities. Visits are assigned based on patient and business needs. The number of visits performed each week will vary based on individual productivity targets and the productivity points assigned to the visits performed.
