In an Addiction Medicine setting, the nurse supports the smooth operation of the program while providing direct patient care. This includes organizing daily clinic activities, coordinating patient flow, communicating with providers and support staff, and helping maintain compliance with regulatory and documentation requirements. The nurse also manages medication administration by preparing and administering medications used in addiction treatment, monitoring patients for side effects or clinical changes, maintaining accurate medication records, and offering education and support to patients throughout their recovery process.

Summary

The Registered Nurse – Patient NavigatorPatient Navigator, Addiction Medicinerole assists patients manage the complexities of post discharge care by providing personalized, professional and compassionate care and follow up to patients and in-patient care. The Patient Navigator will work closely with care management and patient care services to facilitate high quality and timely follow up.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current ACLS Certification for critical care departments required. Certifications specific to department policies may be required.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in an acute health care setting preferred. Navigator or case management experience preferred.

Clinical Nurse (RN) - Neurosurgical/Trauma/IMC Unit (R6)

Description Maine Medical Center Nursing Req #: 77904 This is a bargaining unit position Job Posting Date: 5/5/2026 R6 is a dynamic 24-bed neurosurgical / trauma unit with an embedded 9-bed neuro-focused Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2 is a fast-paced 12-bed Total Joint Center. This position offers the R6/B2 RN an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a supportive environment as an integral member of a collaborative team of highly trained staff. The R6 patient population includes adults and older adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions including closed head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizure disorders, multi-traumas, and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention. RNs providing care in the R6 IMC demonstrate astute assessment and critical thinking skills, as patients in IMC often have multi-system issues that require telemetry monitoring, intra-cranial pressure monitoring, medication drips, frequent intervention, or other higher acuity care needs. The Bean 2 patient population consists of adults who have undergone joint replacement surgeries. This unit serves as the Joint Center for our nationally recognized and Joint Commission accredited joint replacement program. The RN on Bean 2 coordinates important milestones of care for each patient’s visit to facilitate a timely and safe discharge. This unit sees a high turnover of patients and consistently receives exceptional patient satisfaction scores. R6/IMC/B2 offers a challenging yet rewarding environment where teamwork, excellent communication, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach to provision of care is expected.
