Summary/Objective

The HIV Program Coordinator for HIV Testing in the Emergency Department will implement and maintain this screening initiative that is funded through a Texas Department of State Health Services grant. This position will facilitate data collection and reporting; serve as a liaison to staff and the Texas Department of State Health Services and develop and maintain standards for program services. In addition, the HIV Program Coordinator will be involved with pertinent HIV coalitions and networking opportunities.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Plan, manage and oversee components of the opt-out HIV screening program in the ED.
  2. Provide notification of HIV test results, counseling and linkage to care for patients that are in-house and serve as an internal consultant for HIV screening, test results, counseling and linkage to care activities.
  3. Collect, tabulate and report required data to external appropriate agencies as required by law (i.e. DSHS).Report program statistics and performance improvement activities though appropriate internal structures.
  4. Participates in budget preparation/submission, modification and maintenance. Participates in the application and maintenance of applicable Grants. Facilitates processes for reimbursement from DSHS.
  5. Collaborates with external stakeholders to facilitate notification of HIV test results, counseling and linkage to care for patients that have been discharged prior to result confirmation and in the development, delivery and evaluation of educational programs or tools that relate to HIV screening and awareness. Develop and maintain working relationships with HIV related stakeholders in the local and far reaching community.
  6. Develops, implements, evaluates or revises HIV screening program policies and procedures based on evidence or other pertinent standards.

     

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program professional nursing or social work program

2 - 4 years related experience

Required License/Certifications

RN or LBSW license in the State of Texas
