Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or the Physician, provides age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintains a safe environment, educates patients and their families, collects information, communicates effectively, and utilizes technology. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and tasks. The role of the LPN also includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and supervision of unlicensed personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the collection and analysis of data related to care delivery and reports critical findings to the Registered Nurse and/or Physician.
  • Participates in the development of the individualized plan of care that identifies strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
  • Participates in the execution of the individualized patient/family plan.
  • Participates in the evaluation process toward achievement of outcomes.
  • Advocates for the patient/family rights and educates patient/family concerning their responsibilities.
  • Provides education to patient/family and other health care workers.
  • Participates in continuous performance improvement and provides direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance.
  • Supervises unlicensed personnel.
  • Additional duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse required
  • Current Georgia License as a Practical Nurse
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider Card required.
