Registered Nurse, PICC Team, Second Shift
UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Vascular Access department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Vascular Access Nurse will support the Medical Center’s inpatient and outpatient population at the Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.

- No on-call requirements
- Set holiday and weekend rotation based on unit staffing
- Develop invaluable experience working at a Level 1 trauma center.

Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Associates Degree, minimum required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred
- Current OH RN License
- BLS certification
- Relevant vascular access or ultrasound experience required

- Bedside insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), midlines, and peripheral IV catheters under ultrasound guidance.
- Examine, assess, and evaluate vascular access devices.
- Provide education to patients and family members on the procedure to be performed as well as line care and maintenance.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, professionalism, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the hospital.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the medical record per hospital policy.
- Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others. Time and Attendance Policy. Supports effective use of staff and supplies.
