Step into a fulfilling position supporting student health in a school setting! This contract role offers the opportunity to make a real impact—providing direct care as an on-bus nurse. You’ll ensure the well-being of students requiring specialized medical support during transport, including the administration of Diastat and careful monitoring for seizures.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN or LPN license
- Prior experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing
- Proficiency in administering emergency medications, specifically Diastat
- Strong assessment skills, with particular attention to seizure disorders
- Calm, compassionate, and adaptable in fast-changing or emergent situations
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and school staff
- Able to travel on school buses daily and maintain situational awareness throughout each route
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accompany students on designated school bus routes to and from school
- Administer Diastat as prescribed for students with seizure disorders
- Monitor for and respond to seizure activity or medical events, following individualized healthcare plans
- Document all care provided accurately and promptly
- Communicate effectively with school nurses, transportation personnel, and families
- Create a safe and supportive environment for students during transport
- Remain vigilant, proactive, and ready to intervene as needed during the entire shift
This is a full-time contract position, offering over 30 hours per week. Compensation ranges between $40 and $45 per hour, depending on licensure and experience.
