The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams in ambulatory, outpatient, clinic, or specialty care settings. The MA assists with patient intake, basic clinical procedures, documentation, scheduling, and maintaining efficient patient flow while ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and documenting patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist physicians and clinical staff during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Perform routine clinical tasks including injections, specimen collection, EKGs, point-of-care testing, wound care, and medication administration as permitted by state regulations and organizational policy.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, verify insurance information, and assist with patient registration and discharge processes.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical equipment, and clinical supplies in a clean, organized, and fully stocked condition.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards.
- Educate patients regarding medications, procedures, treatment plans, and discharge instructions under the direction of licensed healthcare providers.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare staff.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely within the electronic medical record system.
- Respond professionally to patient inquiries and assist in resolving routine patient concerns.
- Support overall clinic operations and maintain efficient patient flow throughout the workday.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Experience with EMR systems and basic medical terminology required.
Shift: 8am-2pm

Work Environment
This position may require prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting patients throughout the shift. The Medical Assistant may work in outpatient clinics, specialty practices, urgent care centers, hospitals, or other healthcare settings as assigned.
