- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- BSN preferred (Master’s degree may substitute for certification requirements where applicable)

- Strong ability to assess, interpret, and respond to patient needs
- Maintains performance rating of “Solid/Strong/Good” or higher for promotion and continued status
- Demonstrates critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex clinical environment
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Physical ability for standing, walking, lifting, and patient positioning, along with manual dexterity
- Completion of one of the following within 1 year of hire/transfer:
- Approved professional contribution, or
- UPMC-approved nursing certification (must be maintained)
- Certification not required if holding a Master’s in Nursing or DNP
- If BSN is held, a Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for certification
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Must be valid in the state of practice or via Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- BLS/CPR certification (AHA-approved) required within 30 days of hire
- Act 34 clearance required
- UPMC-approved certification preferred
- Must maintain required credentials and performance standards
- Employees using an out-of-state compact license must obtain in-state licensure within 60 days of residency change
