Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin.  Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces.  We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs, a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER TO WORK SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS.

 

The Family Nurse Practitioner provides direct client care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of health problems, health promotion and preventive care within this specialized area of practice.  In addition to direct practice, the sub-roles of the Nurse Practitioner role include education, research, and consultation.  The Nurse Practitioner is involved in practice activities withthe goal of improving the quality of care in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.

 

Job Duties:

  • Assess, plans, and delivers care for patients with all psychiatric disorders. 
  • Provides short term and ongoing medication management to inpatient clients.
  • Provides education as needed for patients, families, and significant others about psychiatric medication, psychiatric conditions and care giver interventions.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed and brief telephone assessments for adverse events and patient's clinical concerns.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education/Training: 

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years direct clincial experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
  • One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.
  • One year of progressive experience in management and/or supervision preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current State License; Nurse Practitioner specialty licensure 
    Current Driver’s License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
  • Ability to safely implement treatment procedures.

Overview The official job title for this position at PPGT is “Clinician”. The Clinician provides comprehensive reproductive healthcare services to patients at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas (PPGT). Works as part of the Health Services team in collaboration with Health Services and other team members to meet the clinical needs of patients as outlined in affiliate protocols. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and consults with supervising physicians as needed. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other forms of treatment, including contraception. You offer wholistic care including prevention, chronic disease management and health education to your patients. CPR/BLS certification required at time of start date Independent family practice experience including routine wellness care, chronic care management, and urgent visit, preferred Minimum Job Requirements for Physician Associate: Active license & current NCCPA board certification required. Independent practice provider preferred, where applicable per State regulation. Federal DEA number preferred; may be required for full prescribing ability. CPR/BLS certification required at time of start date Independent family practice experience including routine wellness care, chronic care management, and urgent visit, preferred Pay Range: $130,000 - $165,000/yr The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level.
