In this position, you’ll provide nursing care for patients over the telephone utilizing the nursing process in accordance with the current American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) Telehealth Nursing Practice Administration and Practice Standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages clinical calls using the nursing process
- Listens actively, intently, and for a sufficient length of time
- Demonstrates initiative and a systematic approach to interviewing and history taking
- Documents significant data
- Gathers quantitative and qualitative data
- Tasks are measured by observation of the evaluator, feedback of the provider, and review of the electronic health record
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills in assessing the relevant needs of the caller
- Systematically assesses and addresses patients’ needs with decision support tools
- Elicits the reason for the call (such as the chief complaint)
- Quickly identifies emergent signs and symptoms
- Obtains history of symptoms, associated symptoms, and allergies
- Determines priorities
- Provides care consistent with the functional requirements of the person’s developmental age during customer interaction
- Provides care advice to the caller/patient specific to their needs
- Supports patients and families in self-management of their health through education
- Demonstrates the Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families, and coworkers
- As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Diploma in Nursing or Nursing or an associate degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required
- BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association required
- 2 years pediatric experience required
- 2 years recent clinical experience in a physician office, home health, critical care and/or emergency room preferred
