Nursing Assistant Position Summary

The Nursing Assistant provides direct physical care and emotional support to patients in an assigned area under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required.

Nursing Assistant Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Exceptions: Worked Based learning students in Senior Year of high school with a CNA certification
  • Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant licensure that has been issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS(Basic Life Support) CPR required
  • Basic computer skills required
    1. Knowledge of how to switch on the computer
    2. Ability to use a mouse to interact with elements on the screen
    3. Ability to use the computer keyboard
    4. Ability to shut down the computer after use 
  • If candidate accepts a position, candidate is required to attend & complete New Employee Orientation (Mondays 8am to 3pm)  & 2 consecutive days of Nursing Assistant orientation (scheduled on a Tuesday & Wednesday - dayshift hours) during designated TidalHealth New Employee orientation weeks.

Provides care consistent with both verbal and/or written instructions. Demonstrates competent understanding of assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation. Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
