Inpatient Rehab Nursing Assistant

About the u nit We are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson’s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. This is a very rewarding unit to work on, as we all get to take part in the progress patients make towards their goal of getting home. The care environment at 8 Center allows nurses to develop exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team to meet the needs of complex medical patients. 8 Center has an active Professional Nurse Council, and the staff nurses are able to be involved in unit decisions with a Shared Governance Model. Essential Functions Providing care to the patient according to the plan of care, specific unit routines and hospital policy under the Direction of the Registered Nurse. Medical Observation Nursing Assistant

Corewell Health is offering up to $1500 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity! About the unit The Medical Observation Unit consists of 54 beds. Patients are categorized as Observation secondary to insurance requirements. This is the medical unit. Patients are admitted from the Emergency Department with mental status changes, long term placement needs, pain, cardiac, TIA, r/o CVA, UTI, pneumonia, geriatric, and behavioral issues. If patients meet criteria for higher level of care they will be transferred to the assigned progressive or inpatient unit. Staff complete an assessment and shift documentation according to the Observation documentation policy. There is rapid patient turnover on this unit between patient discharges and transfers. May complete 1-4 discharge, transfers, and assessments during a 12 Hour shift.
