Position Summary

Responsibilities

You will organize patient care by prioritizing, delegating, delivering and evaluating on an ongoing basis
You will utilize the knowledge base of nursing education and experience to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures and protocols
Collaborate with the nursing team to facilitate overall improvement in quality of care, patient experience and cost reduction
Foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing staff and members of the health care team
Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or obtained within five (5) years from the initial date of hire; RN with 15+ years of service or internal candidates hired before January 1, 2021 may be considered in satisfaction of this requirement in lieu of an education agreement
Advanced degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP) preferred
Registered Nurse license (RN) in Washington State or multi-state licensure endorsement (MSL)
Current BLS Certification required
ACLS or NALS or PALS or TNCC or NRP certification, as required by facility or department
Certification in specialty area preferred
One (1) year of experience in acute care setting preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $48.15 - $90.83 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.

Description The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing. The primary roles of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include: practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. Within each role the Clinical Nurse Specialist uses problem solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes. S/he works collaboratively with the staff and managers to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate outcomes of nursing interventions. The time spent in each of the role components varies with patient population, unit and department needs and organizational priorities. This position has system wide responsibility; CNS staff are required to have transportation to be available at all Swedish Medical Center locations as needed. Demonstrates advanced capabilities and knowledge in assessment, diagnoses, treatment and evaluation of an identified population or high risk group to facilitate optimal outcomes. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based practice standards for patient care. Works collaboratively with appropriate resources to manage complex patient care. Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff, health care providers and the community. Utilizing research and the quality improvement process to assure quality and value in patient outcomes. Applies educational concepts and skills with patient, family, nursing staff and other health care providers to improve outcomes. Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, department and organizational goals.
