As a Surgical Technologist in the OR, you will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and registered nurses throughout operative procedures to help ensure safe, efficient, and exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include preparing sterile instruments and equipment, setting up surgical tables, assisting during procedures, maintaining the sterile field, and supporting instrument decontamination and sterilization after surgery. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on operative experience while making a meaningful impact on patients and caregivers every day. This caregiver role is a day shift position with required on-call coverage. During the 3-month orientation period, the schedule is Monday-Friday, from 7:00am - 3:30pm The required on-call rotation includes: Two call shifts per month (weeknight or weekend) One to two holidays per year A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available. Assists RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery. Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients. Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure. Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.” Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and gives specimens to circulator for disposition. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CCAAHEP or ABHES OR Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C or CST) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
